Our Team

Steve founded Plate & Company in 1982. He has extensive experience in agricultural and small business taxation with an emphasis in estate planning, investment and financial planning for family business owners. He serves as an advisor to numerous clients regarding tax planning opportunities in Subchapter C and Subchapter S corporations, LLCs, and partnerships from start-up to sale.

Jonathan D. Plate, CPA Email Jon

Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to joining Plate & Company in 2008, he was an audit associate primarily focused on bank exams at Roth & Company in Des Moines. Jon’s areas of expertise include agricultural and small business taxation, and tax planning for closely held businesses and their owners. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ryan S. Plate, CPAEmail Ryan

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to joining Plate & Company in 2010, he was an audit associate at McGladrey LLP in Des Moines. Ryan’s areas of expertise include agricultural and small business taxation, and tax planning for closely held businesses and their owners. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Rose joined Plate & Company in 2012. Her primary responsibilities include office management, client service/support, and payroll client service.

Cindy joined Plate & Company in 2011. Her primary responsibilities include billing, receivables and payables.

Peggy TokleEmail Peggy

Peggy works primarily in individual income tax return preparation. Prior to joining Plate & Company in 2011, she was with Mathias, Campbell, Tyler, Nuzum & Rickers law firm in Newton where she served as a legal assistant and individual tax return preparer.

Maria HendricksEmail Maria

Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii. Prior to joining Plate & Company in 2016, Maria’s career consisted of accounting and tax return preparation roles in both public accounting and private accounting. Maria works primarily on corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns, financial statement compilations and assisting clients with QuickBooks.

Ashley StockEmail Ashley

Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in both accounting and finance from Truman State University as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Prior to joining Plate & Company in 2019, Ashley was a financial analyst at ADP in Des Moines. Ashley works primarily on corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns, as well as financial statement compilations.
